HAIR TRANSPLANT - Baldness is the most common indication for hair transplant

Hair Replacement

Male pattern baldness is the most common indication for hair transplant. The quality of the donor hair, which is in the region of posterior scalp, is an useful indicator of the success of the transplant. What appears to be a minor amount of hair loss can have a negative impact on the self image of the patient .

The graft types commonly used are micro graft and follicle unit grafts. Around 800 to 1000 grafts can be transplanted in one session. The procedure is done under local anesthesia.

HAIR TRANSPLANT

Hair transplant is a minimally invasive procedure where the hair follicles from the back of the scalp are taken as they are resistant to balding and the scar can be hidden easily.

Follicular Unit transplantation

The procedure is done under local anesthesia, where a strip of skin is harvested from the posterior region of scalp. The donor area is sutured and the resultant scar is hidden in the hair bearing area. From the strip that is taken, individual follicular units are cut and transplanted to the recipient area.

Follicular Unit Extraction

Individual follicular units are removed under local anesthesia using tiny punches. Each follicle is inserted into the recipient area after making fine punches. Following FUE the donor area scaring is minimal.
